I live in rural Wales, where I look after my three young children, work freelance as a writer and book editor, and do my best to manage the garden, the housework and rather a lot of animals. I was feeling bogged down in the seemingly endless routines of work, motherhood and domesticity, and bemoaning that I never seemed to finish the things I had to do, so never got round to the things I wanted to do. Then I looked through some of my photos and realised that there was a lot in my life that was beautiful or amusing or gladdening. Hence this blog: I hope it will help me count my blessings; and if one isn’t obvious, give me the impetus to go and find one.

‘Discover the sacred space in the midst of the ordinary and realise that the ordinary has been extraordinary all along.’

Your idea is a lovely one, and has inspired me to resolve to be grateful for the small, good things we see, do and experience each day. We don’t really need new worlds, only to look at our present world with new eyes.
Sally, I just want you to know how much I enjoy your blog. I come back to it regularly and it’s always a treat. I make sure I have a nice cup to tea to enjoy with it!
I have learned so much, too. Naturey stuff, cookery stuff, parenting stuff.
Thank you for making it such a lovely place to visit. Lots of love
